Alcoholism Ambivalence
Alcoholism ambivalence is when you determine there is a problem but, are not sure how to address it. You have conflicting ideas. You want to stop the hangovers but, not stop the partying. You're tired of waking up ashamed of your behaviour but, still want to let loose and have fun. You want to eat your cake but, maintain your girlish figure.
Ambivalence is very common. It will come up at various times about any number of things. People want to be physically fit but, going to the gym is such a hassle. Hot and sweaty too. People want to quit smoking, they don't even like smoking, and they don't quit. People stray from their diets all the time.
These people are having hard times and they aren't addicts. Well the smokers are addicts but, the others aren't. If you are addicted, to something you like, how the heck are you suppose to beat this. Whether you think addiction is learned, a disease, or both. Your situation is much worse than to simply stop eating too much candy to lose weight.
It can be done. Its not as hard as everyone says. You don't need to sit around all the time, chewing on your fingernails, wishing you had a drink. If you did, stopping wouldn't be worth it. There would be no pay off to quitting.
One thing you can do is set a time frame for how long you won't drink. If it is that miserable, if there is no pay off, you can always go back to what you were doing before. "Do what you've been doing and get what you've been getting." Your reading this for a reason. Why not join Darth Vader on the Dark Side of the Force and see what it's like. Kick a tire or two. Problem drinking maybe isn't as big of a problem as you think it is.
