About Me
I don't know exactly what to say about me. I am not a medical doctor, nor am I a trained addiction counselor. I have, however, read just about everything you can think of on alcoholism and alcohol abuse. I was also a practicing alcoholic for over 20 years. I've also been through formal rehabilitation and frequently attend self help groups. I guess you could say I am a knowledgeable layman.
I made this website because the first time I had a problem with alcohol, the problem being I was arrested, they told me if I had over 1 drink in the past ten years I was an alcoholic. I thought if that's what being an alcoholic is, who cares. I was wrong, being an alcoholic was very bad for me. It created all manner of problems. On the other hand, some of my closest friends are alcoholics and have never had a problem. Not all alcoholics are the same.
With this web site I just want to present information so you can reach an informed decision. It's your life. I think you should lead it the way YOU want to. Not the way someone else thinks you should. My intent is to provide information, without passing judgement, and let you decide what to do with it. Take what you can use and leave the rest behind. Do something or do nothing. That's for you to decide.
I simply don't want fanatics, usually people new to sobriety, to scare you away from help if you want it.
